Independence

What we cover, and how we rank it, is decided on merit: is the software available, reputable, and priced for a small business. It is never decided by whether a vendor runs an affiliate programme or pays a commission. Free tools sit next to paid ones on our lists, and nothing is added or ranked higher because it pays us.

Sponsorship and access

Sometimes a vendor gives us free access to test, and occasionally a review is sponsored, meaning a vendor paid for the review to be produced. When that happens, it is labelled clearly on the review itself with a neutral sponsored marker. In every case the score and the observations are our honest ones: not promised, not contractual, and not for sale. A sponsor never sees the verdict before publication and cannot change it.

Named authorship

Every review is bylined by the person who reviewed it and the month they ran it, then edited by Wei Chun. There is no anonymous "editorial team". You always know who stands behind a verdict.

Corrections

If we get a fact wrong, we fix it and note that the page was corrected. Software also changes, so a verdict that was fair when written can date; we re-test and re-date rather than quietly editing. To flag an error or an outdated review, email the address on our about page.
