MYOB (now ABSS)

Accounting · the MYOB lineage in SG & MY

If you knew it as MYOB, this is the same software: MYOB South Asia rebranded to ABSS in 2018, and ABSS Accounting and ABSS Premier are the direct continuation of MYOB Accounting and MYOB Premier. It is a compliance-solid veteran with a desktop soul, and support for the old MYOB-branded versions ended on 31 March 2026. Assessed from documentation and named reviewers.

At a glance

The short version

What we liked

  • Two decades of SG and MY compliance heritage: GST and InvoiceNow-ready in Singapore, LHDN e-invoice compliant in Malaysia
  • One of the last vendors still selling a one-time desktop licence, if you dislike subscriptions on principle
  • The new Connect subscriptions bundle cloud features, LHDN e-invoice quotas and Financio Payroll for up to 3 employees
  • Verified, published pricing on the vendor’s own served pages, in SGD and RM

Where it falls short

  • Not yet hands-on tested by us, research based for now
  • Support for legacy MYOB-branded versions ended 31 March 2026, forcing a paid upgrade decision on long-time users
  • A desktop-era interface that named reviewers consistently call dated, with support the most common complaint
  • The one-time licence needs annual Cover plans (from S$402/yr) to stay updated, which erodes the buy-once economics

Bottom line If you run a business that has used MYOB for years, ABSS is the official continuation and the least disruptive path forward, and the Premier Connect bundle is the version to price first. If you are choosing accounting software fresh in 2026, Xero, Zoho Books or ABSS’s own cloud-native sibling Financio are better starting points. See the full accounting roundup.

The verdict

What happened to MYOB, and who ABSS is for

First, the name, because it confuses everyone: ABSS is MYOB. MYOB South Asia, the licensee that sold MYOB in Singapore and Malaysia for roughly two decades, separated from the Australian MYOB Group and rebranded to ABSS (Asian Business Software Solutions) in January 2018. MYOB Accounting became ABSS Accounting; MYOB Premier became ABSS Premier; same product lineage, new name. The Australian MYOB you may read about online is a different company whose cloud product is built for Australian and New Zealand tax, not GST, SST or our e-invoicing mandates, so it is not the answer for an SG or MY business.

What ABSS sells today is two things. The classic one-time desktop licences (ABSS Accounting from S$865, ABSS Premier from S$1,426, both including GST), kept current by optional annual Cover plans from S$402. And the newer Connect subscriptions (from S$349 per year in Singapore, RM999 in Malaysia), which add cloud connectivity, AI receipt scanning, and in Malaysia the LHDN e-invoice pipeline with monthly quotas, plus Financio Payroll for up to 3 employees on the Premier tier. The compliance story is the product’s spine and it is genuine: InvoiceNow-ready in Singapore, 100 percent LHDN-compliant in Malaysia, and PSG grant support referenced on the vendor’s own site.

The honest counterweight: this is a desktop-era product in a cloud-era market. Named reviewers consistently describe the interface as dated and support as the weakest link, and the software still assumes manual updates and backups in a way Xero and Zoho Books simply do not. The deadline that forces the issue: ABSS ended support for the legacy MYOB-branded versions on 31 March 2026. If your business is still running MYOB v19 or similar, you are now unsupported, and your real choice is between paying ABSS to stay in the family or taking the migration pain once and moving to a cloud-native tool. This is our research based read; we will confirm it hands-on and update the review.

Pricing

What ABSS costs, verified in SGD and RM

All figures verified against ABSS’s own served pricing pages (sg.abssasia.com and abssasia.com) in July 2026. Singapore one-time prices include 9 percent GST. Malaysia on-premise prices are “starts from” figures.

ProductPriceWhat you getWho it suits
ABSS Accounting Connect S$349/yr 1 user, cloud-connected, 10 AI OCR scans a month. Malaysia: RM999/yr with 500 LHDN e-invoices a month.A one-person business staying in the ABSS family.
ABSS Premier ConnectPrice this first S$499/yr 3 users, multi-currency Premier features, Financio Payroll for up to 3 employees. Malaysia: RM1,399/yr with 5,000 LHDN e-invoices a month. The default modern choice for an existing MYOB shop.
ABSS Accounting (one-time) S$865once The classic desktop licence, incl. GST. Malaysia from RM2,299. Cover plans from S$402/yr keep it updated.Subscription refusers who accept the trade-offs.
ABSS Premier (one-time) S$1,426once 1 user; S$2,343 for 3 users, incl. GST. Malaysia from RM3,599 and RM4,799. Cover plans from S$684/yr.Multi-user, multi-currency desktop holdouts.

Read the one-time price honestly. S$865 once sounds cheaper than S$32 a month for Xero, and over three quiet years it can be. But GST rates, IRAS formats and e-invoicing mandates do not sit still, and staying compliant in practice means an annual Cover plan (S$402 to S$781 in Singapore, RM1,099 to RM2,199 in Malaysia), at which point the desktop licence costs more per year than most cloud rivals. The Connect subscriptions are ABSS’s own admission of that arithmetic.

SG & MY compliance

The local checks that matter

Singapore GST & InvoiceNow Ready GST handling is two decades deep, and ABSS advertises InvoiceNow and GST InvoiceNow readiness on its Singapore site, in step with the IRAS phase-in.
Malaysia SST & LHDN MyInvois Compliant The Malaysian site leads with 100 percent LHDN e-invoice compliance; Connect plans carry monthly e-invoice quotas (500 on Accounting, 5,000 on Premier).
Verified published pricing Server-rendered Every figure in this review appears in the served HTML of ABSS’s own pricing pages, in SGD and RM. Rare and creditable in this market.
Legacy MYOB versions Support ended Official support for old MYOB-branded versions ended 31 March 2026. Still running one means no updates and a forced choice: upgrade within ABSS or migrate out.
Cloud reality Desktop soul Connect adds cloud features to a desktop core; it is not a cloud-native product. Named reviewers call the interface dated and support the weak point.

Who it is for

Buy it, consider it, or skip it

Buy it if

  • You already run MYOB or ABSS and want the least disruptive upgrade
  • Your accountant or bookkeeper is fluent in the MYOB way of working
  • You want a one-time licence and accept the Cover-plan arithmetic
  • You need LHDN e-invoicing handled inside the same product (MY)

Great fit for

  • Long-standing SG and MY SMEs with years of MYOB data
  • Businesses whose processes are built around Premier multi-currency
  • Firms buying under PSG with a vendor they already know
  • Owners who trust local dealer relationships over ticket queues

Skip it if

  • You are choosing accounting software fresh in 2026 (see Xero, Zoho Books)
  • You want a modern cloud interface and mobile-first workflows
  • You want bank feeds and automation as the default, not an add-on
  • You would rather migrate once than pay to stay compatible

Alternatives

If MYOB (now ABSS) is not the one

Head to head Staying, or moving on? The real MYOB decision in 2026 is not which ABSS box to buy; it is whether to stay in the family at all. These are the three moves we would price against it. See comparison

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us

What happened to MYOB in Singapore and Malaysia?
MYOB South Asia, the regional licensee, separated from the Australian MYOB Group and rebranded to ABSS (Asian Business Software Solutions) in January 2018. The products continued: MYOB Accounting became ABSS Accounting and MYOB Premier became ABSS Premier. The Australian MYOB still exists but builds for Australian and New Zealand tax, not SG or MY compliance.
Is ABSS the same as MYOB?
For Singapore and Malaysia, effectively yes: ABSS is the renamed MYOB South Asia, and its software is the direct continuation of the MYOB products sold here for two decades. The company, the product lineage and most of the dealer network carried over; only the brand changed.
How much does MYOB (ABSS) cost in Singapore?
Verified on ABSS’s own pricing page in July 2026: Connect subscriptions at S$349/yr (Accounting, 1 user) and S$499/yr (Premier, 3 users), or one-time desktop licences at S$865 (Accounting) and S$1,426 to S$2,343 (Premier), all including GST. Optional Cover plans from S$402/yr keep one-time licences updated. Malaysia: RM999 to RM1,399/yr for Connect, one-time from RM2,299.
Is MYOB still supported?
The legacy MYOB-branded versions are not: ABSS officially ended support for them on 31 March 2026. Businesses still on old MYOB software get no further updates and must either upgrade to a current ABSS product or migrate to another system. Current ABSS versions remain fully supported.
Is ABSS cloud-based?
Partly. The core products are desktop software; the newer Connect subscriptions add cloud connectivity, a mobile app, AI receipt scanning and, in Malaysia, the LHDN e-invoice pipeline. For a true cloud-native product from the same company, look at Financio, ABSS’s sibling brand, or compare Xero and Zoho Books.

I assessed ABSS in July 2026 from its Singapore and Malaysia pricing pages (all figures server-rendered and verified), its product documentation, and named reviewers. I have not run the software hands-on yet, so it carries a research based score. The MYOB-to-ABSS history is documented by the vendor and multiple independent local sources.
